BREAST REDUCTION 245

A 46-year-old plastic surgery patient came to our Fort Lauderdale office for consultation about breast reduction. She had large breasts through her entire life; after three pregnancies they become larger, heavier and saggy. She complained of neck and shoulder pain and frequent skin irritation underneath breast.

After clinical evaluation and medical history was completed, we discussed breast reduction surgery. Her bra size was 38 DDD and wanted to be at least 2 cup sizes smaller.

Surgery was done in our accredited plastic surgery center in Fort Lauderdale in general anesthesia. Patient was discharged home after surgery. No drains were used postoperatively. She returned to work in 2 weeks.

Images 5 and 6 are 1.5 years after surgery and show surgical scars; for a dark skin person these are quite acceptable post operative scars well hidden underneath the breast mound. Notice that there is no horizontal scar in the breast crease since we use vertical mammoplasty technique in most of our breast reductions.
