OTOPLASTY – EAR SHAPING

A 29-year-old Miami plastic surgery patient came to us requesting correction of her ears. She had ear surgery done several years ago but she was not “completely satisfied with the result”. She usually has a pony tail and wears her hair behind the ears; she wanted the upper pole of her ears to be close to her head and in line with the earlobe.

Clinical evaluation in our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery office demonstrated that upper pole of both ears is slight out of the line with earlobe (left upper) which is not unusual for “a normal ear”. Also her ears were not properly shaped in the upper pole lacking more anatomical (normal) definition (left lower).

We did corrective ear surgery in our AAAA Certified Surgery Center in local anesthesia.  The upper pole of the ear was pulled slightly towards the head and in line with earlobe (upper right); doing so we also corrected the upper pole appearance which is defined with a “Y” like structure on the outer aspect of the ear ( lower right).
