ARM LIFT 16

A “bat wing deformity” is frequently seen in women after moderate to severe weight loss. However, it may occur without any weight loss simply due to a loss of body mass  as a part of “aging”. This 58-years-old Boca Raton plastic surgery patient came to our office for correction of sagging arm skin due lipodystrophy. She denies significant weight oscillations; she maintained same weight for number of years.

Consultation in our Fort Lauderdale cosmetic surgery office demonstrated mild to moderate deformity mostly related to loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone.  We discussed arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) which involves removal of the redundant skin and fat tissue from the arm and armpit.

Surgery is done in our AAAA Certified Office Surgery Center in twiligHt anesthesia performed by an anesthesiologist. A “T” shaped portion of skin is removed from inside of the arm and armpit. A scar is placed in the inside of the arm and it is not visible when patient is standing with her arms down.

Before arm lift surgery (left) and 9 months after brachioplasty which included removal of skin and liposuction of fat tissue around the arm (right).
