BREAST AUGMENTATION 135

This Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery patient came to our office for consult regarding breast augmentation. She is a professional fitness trainer with a very active lifestyle. She wanted to treat herself for her 50th birthday with a “new breasts”. Her bra cup size was 34 A/B; she wanted breast enlargement for one cup size up.

Clinical evaluation in our cosmetic surgery center demonstrated masculine, balanced, lean body with small, grossly symmetric breasts. We discussed breast augmentation with silicone implants in the range of 350-450 ml. She decided to have 410 ml silicone gel implants.

In general anesthesia we performed breast augmentation placing breast implants in a pocket underneath pectoral muscles. This is a good option for patients with lean body and small breast tissue since muscle bulk will diminish visibility of breast implant edges. Her recovery was fast and uneventful; she was back to work in 2 weeks.

Periareolar incisions (along the lower border of areola) were used for placement of the implants. Notice barely visible scars after breast augmentation through this type of incision.
