• Breast Reduction

This 29-year-old mother of two gave birth to her second son 14 months ago. She gained 25 lbs. in the course of her second pregnancy. She was nursing both children. She wanted smaller breasts and smaller areolas and liposuction to give her “a boost to lose more weight”. She refused to have abdominoplasty which we discussed. Her bra size was 38 3D.  Considering her young age and possibility of additional pregnancy (“‘no way” she said) we elected superior-medial pedicle mammoplasty (a type of breast reduction) which will preserve possibility to breastfeed if needed in the future. This technique preserve connection between nipple and milk producing breast tissue thus allowing nursing even if significant amount of breast gland is removed in process of breast reduction.  This technique of reduction mammoplasty seems to preserve nipple sensibility better than alternative techniques of breast reduction. Patient is showed before (left) and 2 years after breast reduction surgery (right) and liposuction of abdomen and chest. She lost 22 lbs. in the meantime.
