BROW LIFT CASE #86

A 51-year-old Boca Raton cosmetic surgery patient wanted improvement of droopy brows and wrinkled and “heavy” lower eyelids.

Pre-operative evaluation in our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery office demonstrated a moderate ptosis (descend) of the brows. In young man brows should stay at the level or slightly above the orbital ridge and have either straight or slightly curved shape based on current “aesthetic standards” for Caucasian man face. His brows are slightly lower in particular on the outside aspect of his orbit (eye-socket) (left). His lower eyelids demonstrate heavy wrinkles, mostly due to a long time sun exposure (he is very athletic, a competitive long distance runner for many years).

We performed an endoscopic brow lift and lower eyelid blepharoplasty in general anesthesia.  His brows were lifted for approximately 1-1.5 cm and fixed in new position using biodegradable plates.  A very conservative excision of skin only was performed on lower eyelids.

Patient is shown before (left) and 3 months after endoscopic forehead/brow lift and lower eyelid surgery (right).  He had a nose surgery (rhinoplasty) in the meantime what explains his bruising (yellow) around the eyes. Notice a new position and shape of his brows and improvement in lower eyelids. For a stable long term result after any facial, eyelid or nose surgery patient has to wait at least 6 months for postoperative signs to resolve (mild swelling, asymmetry, etc.)
