EYELID RECONSTRUCTION CASE #307

This out-of-town plastic surgery patient had a bulge between her eyebrows since her early treenage years. She came to our Fort Lauderdale cosmetic surgery office for consultation about nature of her deformity and possible treatment. She also wanted correction of hooding of her upper eyelids.

After a thorough clinical examination and review of her skull x-rays we found that forehead bulge is a result of a large frontal sinus (cavity within frontal bone filled with air) and thick bone over the sinus. We discussed surgical correction of this deformity by means of forehead bone contouring surgery.

Her surgery was done in general anesthesia in our plastic surgery center in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. It involved forehead bone shaving with diamante burr through a small 10 cm. long incision (4″) hidden in her hair. Upper eyelid surgery was performed in the same time. Patient was discharged home 1 hour after surgery.

She is presented before surgery with moderate forehead bulging between her brows and 6 montha after forehead contouring surgery and upper blepharoplasty.
