BLEPHAROPLASTY – EYELID SURGERY CASE #78
This 83-years-old Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery patient had a very active social life. He wanted to achieve “some improvement around eyes and brows without undergoing too much surgery”. He wanted everything done in local anesthesia.

On clinical examination he demonstrated significant redundancy of the upper eyelid skin and heavy bags underneath lower eyelids, a typical presentation for his age (left).

We selected to do upper and lower eyelid surgery (upper and lower blepharoplasty). Our goal was to remove redundant skin and fat from upper and lower eyelids and to diminish the groove that separates lower eyelid from cheek (tear trough). Surgery was performed in our AAAA Certified Surgery Center in local anesthesia.

Patient is shown before upper and lower blepharoplasty on the left and 6 months after surgery which included upper and lower eyelid surgery and “direct excision brow lift” on the right. One can notice that his eyebrow lift scar is still visible (fine red lines above both brows) on the right image. He also demonstrated laxity of the lower eyelids despite the fact that we performed eyelid tightening by means of canthopexy. This condition will improve with eyelid massage; the red scar will fade and become barely visible in coming months.

Before upper and lower eyelid surgery (left); 6 months after upper and lower blepharoplasty and brow lift (right).

Age: 83
Gender: Female
