(954) 779-2777“F” IS FOR FEBRUARY AND ALSO FACIAL IMPLANTS!
What is the very first thing you notice when you meet someone? Is it the shoes they’re wearing on their feet? Is it the way they impeccably styled their hair? Perhaps the shiny new Rolex on their wrist?… More than likely, they’re looking at your face. “Facial asymmetry and dis-balance is the first thing we notice on other people’s faces. They may have a small chin, large nose, one side of the face is smaller than the other, bulgy, protruding eyes, etc. Although facial asymmetry (difference between left and right side of the face) is considered normal and not easily noticeable, large discrepancies in the size of certain parts of the face are noticeable to a casual observer. Weak chin and weak lower jaw are much more noticeable than small cheekbones,” says Dr. Zoran Potparic, plastic surgery expert in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Facial implant surgery can help you balance disproportionate facial features, strengthen a weak jaw line, or emphasize your cheekbones; all to create a more harmonious appearance. People opt for facial implants for a variety of reasons, but the common denominator is to achieve facial symmetry and balance. There are many options out there, which one is right for you? Determining which procedure(s) are right for you depends on what your underlying bone “deformity”.The best candidates for all forms of augmentation are those who are healthy and have realistic expectations. As with any surgical procedure, it is important to keep in mind the many variables that may occur.
Chin implants can increase the size and projection of a chin that is not in proportion with your face. A small or recessed chin can also be described as one that seems to disappear into the neck of an individual of normal weight, rather than appearing as a distinct facial feature. Chin augmentation using surgical implants can alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features. Frequently this is associated with nose deformity; correction of chin and nose is usually done in one surgery.
Jaw implants increase the width of the lower third of your face. Much like the chin, a weak jaw can be thought of as one that is not well defined and distinct from the neck or one that slopes rather than angles from the ear to the chin. In some cases, both the chin and jaw can contribute to facial imbalance. Implants can strengthen the jawline and create a harmonious face.
Cheek implants increase the projection of cheekbones and add volume to areas that may be recessed or flat. Usual tell-tale signs of aging are wrinkles, deep dark lines, tear trough deformity, and sagging of skin underneath lower eyelids. You may not notice, but loss of volume in your face by means of loss of fat starts in early thirties. So if this is a concern for you, cheek augmentation and/or with fat grafting to restore volume and cheek fullness may be right for you!
Dr, Potparic frequently uses soft tissue fillers to correct minor asymmetries of the chin, cheeks, lips, and nose. Using fat grafts or over the counter soft tissue fillers like Voluma, Sculptra, Radiesse, Juvederm or Restylane may significantly improve facial harmony and give your face oval or heart shaped youthful look. They can also be used in combination with facial implants to correct small additional discrepancies. Fat grafting of the cheek is frequently used with cheek implants in Dr. Potparic’s practice.
It is important during your consultation to address any and all concerns and questions you may have regarding your face asymmetry. What is recovery like? How long will it be until I may workout again? All facial implants are placed through practically invisible incisions placed inside the mouth or underneath the chin. Procedures are very simple and usually requires only local or twilight anesthesia. Recovery time is 1-2 weeks, significant to mild to moderate swelling of the treated area is to be expected. Normal activities can be resumed 1 week after surgery. Facial implant surgery can have amazing results and it is detrimental to follow instructions carefully given to you by your trusted plastic surgeon.
