OPEN NOSE SURGERY

A 24-year-old patient came to our Fort Lauderdale cosmetic surgery clinic for consult regarding nose improvement. She wanted her nose smaller.

On clinical examination she had large and wide nose with large nose hump and broad nose tip. There was no evidence of nose obstruction and difficulties with breathing.

We discussed open nose surgery which will include shortening of the nose, lowering nasal dorsum by means of a hump removal and shaping nasal tip cartilages using additional cartilage grafts taken from nose septum.

In general anesthesia we performed open rhinoplasty, narrowed, shortened and reduced height of the nose. Fine shaping of nose tip cartilages and addition of small cartilage taken from her septum completed her nose reconstruction.

Patient is shown before nose shaping surgery on the left and 1 year after external rhinoplasty. There is a significant improvement in the size and shape of the nose, balance between nose and lip and harmony of her entire face (right). Notice improvement of the size and shape of the nose tip on worm’s view.
