BROW LIFT PROCEDURE DETAILS
This procedure typically involves partial removal of selected forehead muscles between the brow, which is followed by lifting the forehead skin. Excess skin is either removed (open brow lift) or lifted by using a resorbable plate or screw, which is fixed to the bone without skin removal (endoscopic brow lift). Limited lift of the most lateral (outer) portion of the brow may be achieved with temple lift in select patients. In some cases, Dr. Potparic may combine brow lift surgery with an eyelid lift for an even more comprehensive rejuvenation.
- Price estimate for brow lift: $3,500 – $5,500+
- Type of anesthesia: general, twilight, local
- Duration of surgery: 1 to 2 hours
- Surgical facility: AAAA-certified ambulatory surgery center
- Recovery time: 1 to 2 weeks
- Discomfort: none to mild
- Removal of stitches: 7 to 10 days
ENDOSCOPIC MINIMAL BROW LIFT
Endoscopic brow lift is performed using two to three short, one-inch incisions, placed in the hair-bearing portion of the scalp close to the hairline. Skin and muscles of the forehead are then carefully elevated from the underlying bone under control of a camera, which is introduced into the surgical field. Muscles between the eyebrows are partially removed to help elevation of the brow and to improve frown lines. Skin and muscles are then elevated into the desired position and fixed in that position using resorbable plates. Plates (usually two) are fixed to the bone to provide stable anchor for the skin flap and maintain lift for several weeks until the skin flap has firmly attached in the new position. Plates are degraded by body enzymes within a period of two to 10 months after the brow lift surgery, depending on their thickness. During that period, plates are not visible underneath the skin since they are very thin and placed under hair-bearing scalp.
- Price estimate for endoscopic brow lift: $3,500

FOREHEAD LIFT (BROW LIFT AND HAIRLINE LIFT)
Open brow lift involves a large incision placed across the scalp between the ears or more towards the hairline. It allows better visualization of the forehead bone and correction of underlying bony deformities (bulging forehead) as well as correction of severe asymmetries of the forehead and brow. The muscle between the brow is partially removed as with an endoscopic lift; the skin flap is pulled up to achieve satisfactory position and shape of the brow. Any excess skin is removed, and the incision is closed with staples or stitches. The scar is well hidden in the hair-bearing scalp. Temporary or frequently permanent loss of sensation in the portion of scalp behind the scar is experienced by all brow lift patients.

BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS
Hairline brow lift is characterized by an incision placed in zigzag fashion along the border between forehead skin and hairline. The rest of the procedure is as described above. The scar is well hidden, in the hairline and barely noticeable, even in fair-skinned people.
- Type of anesthesia: general, twilight, local
- Duration of surgery: 1 to 2 hours
- Surgical facility: AAAA-certified ambulatory surgery center
- Recovery time: 1 to 2 weeks
- Discomfort: none to moderate
- Removal of stitches: 7 to 10 days
TEMPLE LIFT
Temple lift includes the removal of hair-bearing skin in the area of the temple above the sideburns. This allows pulling the lateral (outer) portion of the brow, as well as a portion of the temple skin into a higher position and correcting sagging of the brow and skin between the brow and hairline. The scar is well hidden in the hair.
This procedure is well suited for a specific selected group of patients who present with a particular brow/forehead deformity.
